Cedar Point Amusement Park is the roller coaster capital of the world, and it’s right here in Lake Erie Shores and Islands. Located in Sandusky, Cedar Point is the only amusement park in the world with five rollercoasters taller than 200 feet – so buckle up and get ready for an adrenaline rush like you’ve never felt before.
But the amusement park isn’t the only attraction that makes this a fun family and group destination. Get up close and personal with wild animals at African Safari Wildlife Park or learn about the local marine life at the Aquatic Visitor’s Center. Undoubtedly the biggest draw of visitors to the region is this Great Lake, Lake Erie. An icon of the American landscape, it’s also the perfect place to host a sporting event and will be sure to draw in guests with its familiar name. The lake’s various tributary rivers provide refreshing natural venues for water sports. Multiple bass and walleye fishing tournaments are hosted each year, drawing competitors locally and internationally. Cedar Point Amusement Park

No matter where you’re from, you’ve likely heard of Cedar Point. This famed amusement park has been featured on the Travel Channel and many top 10 lists for its thrill rides that attract visitors from across the country. But did you know it also plays host to sporting events? The Run & Ride race series, Santa Hustle, swimming competitions and sand volleyball tournaments take place throughout the year.

How to get there
The heart of Lake Erie Shores & Islands lies near Sandusky, a lakeside town halfway between Toledo and Cleveland, Ohio. The advantage planners have with this location is that so many regional and national hubs can be found relatively nearby, no matter where you’re coming from.
By car: I-90 runs along the shore of Lake Erie and is one of the best ways to reach Sandusky, the heart of the Shores & Islands area. Cleveland is about an hour and 15 minutes to the east, while Toledo and Detroit are one and two hours to the west, respectively.
By air: Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is the closest major airport. It’s about an hour from the Shores & Islands region.
