Northwestern Plans Development of New Athletic Facilities

Sports Planning Guide goes on location to bring Sports Planners updates on Northwestern’s Sports Complex and Facilities and their plans of updates.

Northwestern announced a comprehensive plan to renovate and develop new on-campus athletic facilities.

The school has commissioned Populous Architects (formerly HOK) to create a “master plan” that likely will call for upgrades to Welsh-Ryan Arena and Ryan Field and perhaps new offices for football coaches and a new weight room, among other things.

Welsh-Ryan Arena is in desperate need of a makeover, given that its public areas have not been renovated since the 1983-84 season.

Northwestern is believed to be spending at least $1 million on the plan.
