Quick Introduction

BC Place sits on the edge of downtown Vancouver, framed by False Creek with the North Shore mountains in view. For World Cup 26™, expect a big-game buzz in the city core and an indoor-outdoor feel thanks to the stadium’s retractable roof—great for evening kickoffs and Pacific Northwest weather. You’re in walking distance of Yaletown, Chinatown, and Gastown, with SkyTrain stations on both the Expo and Canada lines nearby. Capacity comes in around 54,000 for the tournament, delivering a loud, enclosed atmosphere when the roof is closed and a dramatic open-sky look when it’s retracted. Why it’s great for fans: top-tier access, scenery, and a roof that adapts to the day.

Stadium Overview

Step off the SkyTrain, follow the crowd past food carts on Pacific Boulevard, and you’ll see BC Place’s spires rising over the concourse. Inside, the flow is straightforward: wide circular concourses wrap the bowl, with frequent wayfinding and guest services desks. When the roof is open, you can feel the marine air drift in; when it’s closed, sound stays tight and the place gets loud. Concessions skew quick and digital—tap-to-pay keeps lines moving—and Level 2 is your main loop for variety. If you need a quieter moment, staff can point you to sensory accommodations; families will find universal/family restrooms on every level.

Two quick tips: arrive earlier than you think (downtown gets busy, and security is thorough), and bring layers—even summer evenings can feel cool with an open roof.

BC Place (tournament name used locally as “BC Place Vancouver”) is a retractable-roof stadium in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia. Standard seating capacity is listed at 54,500 by the stadium operator; the host committee cites 54,000 for World Cup 26™. The venue sits at 777 Pacific Boulevard, a short walk from Stadium–Chinatown (Expo Line) and Yaletown–Roundhouse (Canada Line).

Two main seating levels with a club/suite level between them ring a steep soccer bowl, with integrated accessible platforms throughout. The cable-supported roof fully retracts to reveal more than 7,500 m² of open sky, allowing an outdoor feel while preserving weather protection when closed. Premium spaces include the Pacific Rim Suites, Club Lounges & Suites, and the Edgewater Lounge. (Pitch configuration will follow FIFA tournament requirements; final surface details are announced by organizers.)

  • Concessions & water. The venue is fully cashless (tap, mobile, major cards). Empty personal water bottles up to 1L are permitted; refill at fountains once inside (outside beverages are otherwise restricted). Alcohol service follows venue policy; event specifics vary.

  • Merch & payments. Event merchandise kiosks operate on the concourses; digital payments are accepted throughout. (Club matches also sell team gear in-stadium.)

  • Facilities. Family/universal restrooms on every level; first aid and guest services desks on Levels 2 and 4; Mamava lactation pods at Sections 225 & 252; designated stroller parking at Section 229 (for applicable events).

  • Accessibility. Accessible drop-off at Section 147 with elevator access; wheelchair seating platforms throughout; sensory bags and a sensory room (near Section 250); ASL interpreting on request with advance notice.

BC Place uses a clear-bag policy. Permitted: one clear bag up to approximately 12″ x 6″ x 12″ (or small clutch), plus medical/child-care items after inspection. Backpacks and large or hard-sided bags are not allowed. Empty personal water bottles up to 1L are permitted. Bag check may be available at some events; follow event-day instructions. Always verify event-specific updates.

All guests pass through magnetometers; permitted bags are searched. Prohibited items list applies (weapons, outside alcohol, etc.). BC Place is a non-smoking facility with no re-entry; in/out privileges are not offered for most events. Tickets for World Cup 26™ are delivered digitally through the official FIFA Ticketing app—have them downloaded before you arrive.

Know the venue’s Guest Code of Conduct—offensive or unsafe behavior can lead to removal. Gates and alcohol cut-offs vary by event; arrive early to clear security and find your section. Plan layers for cool evening air when the roof is open. Follow any tournament signage on flags, tifos, and instruments as posted by the organizer and venue on match day.

Parking Guide

Parking Options
Downtown parking is limited on event days and fills quickly. BC Place recommends transit first; if you drive, arrive early and expect event-rate pricing at nearby parkades. A small number of accessible stalls are available in lots near the stadium, with a dedicated accessible drop-off on Pacific Boulevard at Section 147 that links directly to elevators. Additional public parking is available across Pacific Boulevard at the Plaza of Nations and in private parkades operated by EasyPark, Impark, and WestPark. Post-match traffic control around Pacific Boulevard and Expo Boulevard can delay exits—consider parking a few blocks away and walking in, or pairing a short drive with SkyTrain (park near a Canada Line or Expo Line station outside the core). Always follow day-of signage and staff direction for road closures, barricades, and pedestrian flows.
