San Francisco’s World Cup 26™ venue sits 40 miles south of the city in Santa Clara, in the heart of Silicon Valley. Levi’s Stadium is open-air and purpose-built for big atmospheres; expect a loud lower bowl and clear sightlines with the South Bay hills beyond the tech campuses. On matchdays, the scene spills across a campus shared with California’s Great America, with fans funneled in by light rail and regional trains. Summer evenings here are dry and comfortable; bring light layers for post-sunset breezes.
Step off VTA light rail at Great America and the stadium rises ahead—steel, glass, and a ring of red seats that feel close even from the upper deck. Inside, the lower bowl is huge and loud, with two big end-zone boards that are easy to glance at between plays. Concourse traffic moves reasonably well on the main level; look for Guest Service kiosks if you need a shortcut or a refill point.
Food skews classic American stadium fare with local twists; lines are busiest near midfield, shorter behind the goals. It’s a cashless building, but reverse ATMs convert cash to prepaid cards in minutes. Hydration is simple—there are water refill stations clustered on the main level, and sealed plastic bottles are allowed. My go-to routine: arrive early via rail, walk straight in at Gate F, fill a bottle, and grab something quick at the outer concourse before heading to my seat. Tip: evening temperatures can dip after sunset—light layers help, especially in the upper deck.
Levi’s Stadium is an open-air venue in Santa Clara, within the San Francisco Bay Area. Standard capacity is about 70,000, expandable for major events; FIFA has not published a tournament-specific configuration as of today. The seating design places roughly two-thirds of spectators in the lower bowl, which concentrates noise and keeps action close. Use the “San Francisco Bay Area” designation when navigating FIFA’s materials; locally, the venue is known as Levi’s Stadium.
Two principal seating bowls with an expansive lower level, natural-grass pitch (Bandera Bermuda with rye overseed), and an open roofline with limited canopy coverage. Premium areas include the East Field Club, United Club, Levi’s® 501® Club, and Graton Winners Club. Sound carries well because of the large lower bowl and steep upper corners; video boards anchor each end. Conditions tip (venue guidance): sunscreen is provided at on-concourse dispensers on select event days—use them if you’re in sun-exposed seats.
Levi’s Stadium prohibits most bags. Allowed: clear bags up to 12″ x 6″ x 12″, one-gallon clear zip-top bags, and small non-clear clutches up to 4.5″ x 6.5″. Medical bags and diaper bags accompanying a child are permitted subject to inspection; non-compliant bags must remain offsite. Mobile Locker Company operates on-site bag check locations (fee) near the RV lot by the Hilton and on Tasman near Gate F. Policies may vary by event; always check your event guide.
All guests and items are subject to search under the stadium’s security policies; permitted/prohibited lists apply. Walk-through screening and bag inspection are in effect. Re-entry is not allowed once you exit the secure perimeter. The venue is smoke-free (no smoking or vaping) under city ordinance. For World Cup 26™, tickets are mobile-only via the FIFA World Cup 26™ app; screenshots won’t be accepted.
Follow the venue Code of Conduct; text “SUPPORT” plus your location to 573-549-HELP for assistance. Gate opening times vary by event—arrive early to clear security and reach your seat. June and early July evenings in Santa Clara are typically dry; light layers help after sunset in upper levels. Bring a sealed water bottle and refill inside to stay hydrated. Flags must follow the permitted-items list (no poles; size limits may apply).
VTA Light Rail’s Orange/Green/Blue Lines serve Great America Station on the stadium’s north side, with post-event extra service and organized queues at Gate A.
VTA bus network connects to light rail and major hubs; Route 60 links SJC to Milpitas BART and to VTA light rail, facilitating transfers toward the stadium.
SJC: Take VTA Route 60 from Terminals A/B to connect with VTA light rail toward Great America.
SFO: Take BART to Millbrae, then transfer to Caltrain; at Mountain View, transfer to VTA Orange Line to Great America.
OAK: Take BART OAK–Coliseum, then BART to Millbrae for Caltrain connections south.
On-site parking is organized into color-coded lots around the stadium and Great America. Lots generally open 3.5 hours before the event and close two hours after; policies can vary by event. Pre-purchase a parking pass and follow directed parking on arrival; all stadium-operated lots are cashless. Accessible parking is concentrated in Red Lot 1 with courtesy cart assistance from Red Lot 1, Green Lot 1, and the Santa Clara Golf Course lots (Red 6/7).
Patrons with valid disabled placards may buy accessible parking on event day at Red Lot 1 (subject to availability). For pickup/drop-off after matches, rideshare is consolidated in Red Lot 7; plan your walking route accordingly. If you’d rather skip traffic, Caltrain, Capitol Corridor (Amtrak) and ACE serve the adjacent Santa Clara–Great America rail stations, with VTA light rail at Great America on the stadium’s north side. Check the stadium parking maps and FAQs before you drive.
