Mercedes-Benz Stadium sits on the west edge of downtown Atlanta, an easy walk from the convention district and Centennial Olympic Park. For FIFA World Cup 26™, it brings a true “big-game” setting: a retractable-roof arena with a 360º “halo” video board, roaring sound, and a fan-first operations playbook refined by NFL, MLS, Super Bowls, and global soccer events. Expect a charged, international crowd; shaded concourses; and plenty of food choices on every level. Atlanta’s summer heat is real, but the roof and air conditioning keep the inside comfortable when closed.
Step off MARTA, join the stream toward Gate 1, and you’ll feel the buzz before you see the pitch. Inside, sightlines are clean from the lower bowl to the 300s, framed by the circular “halo” board that keeps replays and stats in your periphery without pulling your eyes off the action. Concourse flow is intuitive—wide paths, frequent restrooms, and kiosks that move lines quickly thanks to the stadium’s card-and-mobile-only model (cash-to-card kiosks sit just inside the main concourse). Food is spread across all levels, from local staples to quick-serve stands with clearly posted menus. If you like to graze, loop the 100-level early; if you prefer to post up, neighborhood bars on each level act as good rally points.
Two practical tips: arrive early for smoother security and time to explore the “Window to the City” skyline view; and pack light—the clear-bag policy speeds entry. On hot days, the roof may close for comfort; temperatures in-bowl stay pleasant while the crowd still thunders.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a retractable-roof venue in the City of Atlanta (downtown), integrated with the Georgia World Congress Center campus. Standard seating for major events is around 71,000, with configuration to 75,000+ for marquee matches; FIFA and the local host note capacity over 75,000 for World Cup 26™ operations. The stadium anchors a dense district with direct rail access, walkable blocks, and large adjacent event spaces.
Three primary seating levels encircle an international-size pitch under the signature retractable roof. A 360º “halo” video board sits at the roof line, complemented by the 10-story “mega column” and extensive in-bowl displays for replays and stats. Premium areas include the Mercedes-Benz Club and Delta Sky360° Club among others. Acoustics are lively—roof-closed matches get loud quickly. Conditions tip: expect strong A/C and shade when the roof is closed; layers help when moving between concourses and seats.
Clear bags only up to 12″ x 6″ x 12″ (including clear backpacks, waist packs, and cinch bags). A small non-clear clutch up to 4.5″ x 6.5″ is permitted. One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags are acceptable. Camera bags must comply with clear-bag sizing. Exceptions: medically necessary items (inspect at gates) and clear diaper bags when accompanying a child. Bag check (fee) is available outside Gates 1 and 2 via The Mobile Locker Company.
All guests pass through security screening; prohibited items include non-compliant bags, bottles/cans, large lenses, and tobacco/vape products (the campus is smoke-free). Re-entry is not permitted once you exit. For World Cup 26™, entry is mobile-only via the tournament app—tickets are delivered in the FIFA World Cup 26™ app and screenshots are not valid.
Review the Fan Code of Conduct and follow staff instructions—persistent unsafe behavior leads to removal. Gate opening times vary by event; the stadium advises watching official pre-event communications (“Know Before You Go”) and arriving early to clear security and explore. June in
Atlanta is warm and humid with frequent afternoon storms; bring a light rain layer and hydrate (one sealed water bottle allowed).
MARTA’s Blue/Green Line stations GWCC/CNN Center and Vine City are the closest walks. From other lines, transfer at Five Points. Event operations may add shuttle trains.
MARTA buses serve the area; Vine City Station lists Route 94 with event-day detour notes. Use MARTA’s real-time trip planner for current routing around large events
From Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), take MARTA Red/Gold from the in-terminal Airport Station to Five Points, then Blue/Green to GWCC/Vine City. Airport Station is inside the Domestic Terminal between baggage claims.
Pre-purchase parking is strongly recommended; the stadium’s platform lists on-site and adjacent lots across the GWCC campus, with specific opening hours provided after purchase. Over 20,000 spaces lie within a 20-minute walk of the stadium. If you’re carrying accessibility placards, ADA spaces are available in multiple decks and lots; on major event days, complimentary ADA shuttles run from the Blue Lot and Yellow Lot, dropping at Vine City (near Gate 1).
Accessible drop-off points include Northside Drive (by The Home Depot Backyard) and Andrew Young International Blvd. (near Georgia International Plaza/Red Deck). If you prefer to avoid downtown traffic, MARTA park-and-ride plus rail to GWCC/Vine City is straightforward and well-staffed on big matchdays.
