Air-supported structures were implemented on a large scale in 1970. Since then, the air-supported dome industry has seen constant innovation and an increase in customer demand, specifically in the youth and amateur sports markets.

The domes’ large, open spaces and sheltered playing fields have proven beneficial to the amateur sports market as they enable multiple sports to be played (often at the same time) and cost significantly less to build than traditional brick and mortar structures.

The latest, and perhaps greatest, addition to this market will be the new Sports KingDome in the town of East Fishkill, New York. Construction is underway for the Sports KingDome, which has been called the world’s largest multi-sport dome and has been described as an integral part in the evolution of the multi-sport dome industry.
