What does Fairplex bring to the table?
So you’re planning a sporting event and looking to see if Fairplex is the place for your group? You want to meet everyone’s approval, and that can sometimes be difficult, but this Pomona facility has a lot to offer groups in Southern California.
With a prime location on nearly 500 acres including grass infields with a grandstand seating capacity of 9,000, Fairplex is a splendid pick for your next sporting event. From marathons and martial arts to cheer, dance and gymnastics, sports-related events are rated two thumbs up at Fairplex.
Fairplex is the perfect place to plan a successful trip. With everything on one campus—even lodging options and healthy eating selections—it makes for an easy and stress-free vacation. Families, teams, friends or foes will all find this to be true; Fairplex is the spot to be for an impeccable sporting event.
Are there activities to do in our downtime?
Tons! Fairplex hosts so many entertaining events that you’re bound to find something that interests your group. TLC Summer Discovery Camp, the Great Train Expo, music festivals such as HARD Summer Music Festival, RailGiants Train Museum, Reptile Super Show, Pomona Swap Meet and Classic Car Show, LA County Fair, Red Bull Straight Rhythm, Annual California RV Show, Oktoberfest, Harvest Festival… need we go on?
Not only are there fun events, but also great dining opportunities. McKinley’s Grille and Finish Line Sports Grille are both located on Fairplex’s campus. Every Thursday it has “Food Truck Thursday,” where you can get your dinner out of a vehicle.
Fairplex’s lodging options include a 211 suite Sheraton Hotel, which features a state-of-the-art conference center. KOA RV Park is also a possibility; it includes 12 acres with 185 full-service sites and fully furnished cabins for those who don’t own an RV.
As for activities outside of the facility’s campus, Pomona has a big event that draws sporting groups in, both participants and supporters. Pomona was a host town to the three-day Special Olympics World Games. The 2015 game was the largest sports and humanitarian event in the world since the 1984 Olympic Games—an exciting milestone for Southern California.
Being so close to Los Angeles, why not stop by the City of Angels? Get a glimpse of the 45-foot-high white letters of the Hollywood Sign, a symbol of Tinseltown. Also check out the rides and attractions at Universal Studios Hollywood. Venice Beach, near Los Angeles, has volleyball nets, fishing piers, a 16,000-square-foot skatepark and the Ocean Front Walk, aka “the boardwalk.”
Anaheim, also close by, is home to one of the top 10 tourist attractions in the country, Disneyland. Shopping, entertainment, events, dining and Disney characters galore—Disneyland has all the checkpoints. Minutes away from Disneyland in Buena Vista is Knott’s Berry Farm theme park, where you can chase the thrill on roller coasters or cool off at one of Soak City Water Park’s slides.
