J.D. Wood of Sports Facilities Management has been chosen to serve on the board of directors for the National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC).

“It is a great honor to serve on the NASC’s Board of Directors, an organization I have deeply valued throughout the course of my sports management career,” Wood said. “I look forward to serving the sports destinations, sports event owners, and vendors to the industry, as well as learning the valuable information to help catapult our soon-to-launch Panama City Beach Sports Complex.”

The news comes fresh on the heels of Wood’s appointment as general manager for the upcoming Panama City Beach Sports Complex. Located within the Breakfast Point development, the complex is in a crucial destination for tourism in the Florida Panhandle. The facility will feature 13 rectangular fields, including nine with artificial surfaces and two championship fields seating up to 1,500 spectators. Once it is launched, its flexible design allows for soccer, lacrosse, rugby, football, flag football, baseball, and softball to be played.

Tagging along with the 27 miles of sugar-white sand, and the clear green waters of the Gulf of Mexico and St. Andrew Bay convergence, the Panama City Beach Sports Complex adds yet another exceptional aspect to this sunny city.

NASC stands by their passion of helping sports events and tourism professionals achieve what they previously saw as unimaginable levels of performance by creating a community of smart, creative, and interesting people; their members. As one of NASC’s 800-plus members, Wood will be playing a vital role in delivering education, networking opportunities, and event management and marketing.
