In just a few years Pinecone Central Park in Sartell, Minnesota has undergone a major transformation. In 2008 the park was purchased as a closed golf course, but today it is a youth sports mecca. The park is home to four youth baseball fields, six soccer fields, cross country ski trails and a dog park. All of this renovation was made possible by ProFields LLC, started up by Brian Deyak. The city originally spent $8.6 million to convert the park into what it is today.
From Park Districts to Private Equity
Youth tournament sports grew from a passion project run by former coaches on borrowed fields into a $128 billion economic engine. Understanding how we got here is the only way to understand where we’re going.
