Des Moines to Host NAIA Championship

Des Moines, Iowa, will play host to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Wrestling National Championship March 2-3.

The event will take place at the Richard O. Jacobsen Exhibition Center at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Sessions begin at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. March 2 and 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. March 3. Two hundred and forty wrestlers and more than 3,000 spectators from around the country will descend upon Des Moines that weekend, producing an expected economic impact of more than $1.6 million for Greater Des Moines.

The championship will focus on keeping the five core values at the heart of the athletic experience: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.

Catch Des Moines is the host of the event, and is partnered with Grand View University as the host institution. The NAIA is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, and is a governing body of small athletics programs that are dedicated to character-driven intercollegiate athletics.
