Opened in late 2023 on the site of the former Virginia Center Commons mall, the 185,000-square-foot Henrico Sports & Events Center is a premier indoor sports and events facility in Henrico County. The center features 12 full-size basketball courts convertible to 24 volleyball courts, a 3,500-seat retractable arena expandable to 4,000, four locker rooms, mezzanine viewing areas, concessions, VIP suites and a dedicated broadcast/AV control room used by national networks. Designed for flexibility, it hosts youth and adult leagues, national championships, gymnastics competitions, high school graduations, banquets and corporate events, while also driving regional economic activity with adjacent hotel development, retail investment and ongoing community revitalization.
