The 2022 Edition of Sports Planning Guide is Available

Willowbrook, IL, October 25, 2021 – Celebrating the return of the rapidly rebuilding sports tourism industry, the newly released 2022 Sports Planning Guide is here, published in time for the industry’s annual gathering of sports tourism professionals.

Sports Planning Guide (SPG) is the go-to guide for event planners seeking new destinations and diverse venues. Within the 324-page publication, SPG highlights over 90 destinations including 11 state guides, from Washington to Florida. SPG also features expert coverage and in-depth analysis that you won’t find anywhere else. Destination Site InSpections spotlight individual facilities and local popular activities, geographically organized for smooth searches of specific sports, needs and interests.

“In many ways, the 2022 edition of Sports Planning Guide is better than ever. It celebrates the return to competitive sports and showcases once again that the sports tourism industry has led the travel industry’s recovery,” said Jeff Gayduk, president and founder of Premier Travel Media, publisher of Sports Planning Guide.

According to a recent report by Technavio, the sports tourism industry is set to grow by 13% between 2021 and 2025—an increase in revenues just shy of $891 billion.

Sports tourism is playing a vital role in local and national economies with most of the revenue brought in from events spread out to transportation, lodging, and food & beverage, as noted by Sports ETA in its State of the Industry Report, supporting a relative proportion of jobs, wages, taxes and GDP.

“While other sectors of the travel industry have been slow to recover, sports tourism has once again shown its resiliency by driving much needed revenue to local communities,” continued Gayduk. “At the same time, event planners, facility operators and DMOs have been navigating through extremely choppy waters and the fact that they have been able to pull together successful events should be celebrated.”

The 2022 edition of Sports Planning Guide debuts at the Sports ETA Symposium in Birmingham, Alabama on October 25. Those in attendance can pick up a copy at SPG booth number 801. Subscribers will receive their copy in the mail by early November. To order a print edition of the 2022 guide, complete the easy subscription form.
