A three-story golf range, hotel and more athletic fields are in the works in Bettendorf

A roughly 75-acre development east of the current TBK Bank Sports Complex is set to begin on April 1. Based in Bettendorf, Iowa, the complex, which opened in 2018, draws thousands of visitors on weekends for sports leagues and tournaments.

The development will double the complex’s size with a new three-story golf entertainment facility with at least 60 hitting bays. New multi-use recreational fields for sports like baseball, softball and more will be also be added, along with a restaurant and bar, an entertainment center and at least one hotel with 80 rooms.

According to the agreement made available on the Bettendorf city council agenda on Tuesday, the city has committed at least $5.8 million in economic development grants and a 75% tax-increment-finance rebate over the next 20 years.

The proposal would provide the developer of the expansion $3 million in economic development grants which would be paid in two installments. The first will go out on January 23, 2023, and the second when the golf entertainment facility is completed. In addition, the developer will be paid $350,000 per year over eight years starting in July, which totals to $2.8 million.

According to the city and developer, the expansion of TBK Bank Sports Complex is expected to be completed in waves. The first wave will be the new multi-use fields and golf entertainment center by December 31, 2023. The second, which includes the hotel, is expected to be completed by July 1, 2025.
