Castine Center
Sports Covered: Indoor multipurpose
Castine Center is nestled within Pelican Park in Mandeville, Louisiana, located just north of New Orleans, which can be accessed by crossing beautiful Lake Pontchartrain via the Causeway Bridge. The center features 28,000 square feet of clear span area that can be subdivided for multiple events based on space requirements. The 3,400-square-foot concourse is perfect for tournaments, and the center also features sport court flooring and removable bleachers. Castine Center also features a 3,000-square-foot outdoor courtyard with a stage, pergolas with wandering wisteria and ambient lighting, upscale restrooms, a conference center and more.
Pelican Park
Sports Covered: Outdoor multipurpose
Surrounding Castine Center is Pelican Park, South Luisiana’s premier sports complex. The park is enormous, featuring 32 athletic fields built for a variety of sports including baseball and softball, soccer, football and more. Two gyms are available for indoor sports like basketball and volleyball. There’s also an 18-hole disc golf course, eight outdoor pickleball courts, a skatepark as well as batting cages. The park has plentiful parking and there are youth camps and clinics available for different sports throughout the year.
Harbor Center
Sports Covered: Indoor multipurpose
Located in Slidell, Louisiana, Harbor Center is designed to meet the 21st Century needs of event organizers. The state-of-the-art facility features 45,000 square feet, ideal for dance, cheer and martial arts competitions. The 6,600-square-foot Grand Hall provides theater seating for 2,000 or banquet seating for 1,000, which can all be adjusted to fit any event needs with shift-shape walls. There are also meeting rooms varying from 1,320 to 5,280 square feet. Along with ample space, floor boxes cover every 30 feet with electricity, phone, water and data ports.
Rigolets Marina
Sports Covered: Fishing, boating
Named after the nearby long deepwater strait, Rigolets Marina is a popular spot for fishing and boating at all experience levels. The bait and tackle shop that not only sells all of the live bait you’ll need, it also carries fishing licenses, marine hardware, a fish cleaning station, fresh seafood market and more. Rigolets Marina is the launch site for several area charter captains. There’s also an on-site RV park.
Tammany Trace
Sports Covered: Hiking, biking, trail running, horse riding
Louisiana’s top-rated rail-trail is Tammany Trace—or just the Trace as locals like to call it—made up of multipurpose public paths created from former railroad corridors. Just like early explorers, you can crisscross urban, suburban and rural St. Tammany on foot, bicycles, horses and more. This 31-mile asphalt trail and parallel equestrian trail connects five communities, including Covington, Abita Springs, Mandeville, Lacombe and Slidell. The Trace also serves as a wildlife conservation corridor, linking isolated parks, creating greenways and preserving historic landmarks and wetlands.
Coquille Sports Complex
Sports Covered: Baseball, softball, outdoor multipurpose, indoor multipurpose
Located in Covington, Louisiana, Coquille Sports Complex has all sports covered with an assortment of quality fields and gyms. The complex features a total of 17 fields, six of which are for baseball, five for softball and the rest multipurpose for a variety of sports including football and soccer. The Coquille Great Lawn, which features two soccer fields, could also be transformed into a cricket field, if necessary. Four gyms are available for indoor sports, and the complex also has three batting cages as well as a conference room for receptions and other events.
