The popularity of soccer in the United States continues to grow with every year. Along with soccer-specific stadiums that host Major League Soccer matches such as those found in Portland, Kansas City and Columbus, soccer training complexes are spread throughout the country. These venues contain multiple playing surfaces that are ideal for multi-team tournaments. Which facility you choose will be at least partly determined by the number of teams taking part in the competition.
Princeton Soccer Association
The area is known as a New Jersey “soccer haven,” and for good reason − the Princeton Soccer Association has linked up with seven different fields, all within driving distance of one another. Among them are the home facilities of Princeton FC, the Princeton High School Turf Field, Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart and Stuart Country Day School Turf. The PSA also offers its Development Center for players ages 4-12. Contact the PSA executive committee for more information.
Redding Soccer Park
This $10-million facility offers just about anything one hosting a tournament or similar event could want – 2,000 square feet of covered seating space that offers views of every field, turf fields that ensure games won’t be canceled due to the elements, and four lighted pitches for those games that occur after the sun goes down. A full-service restaurant and concrete walkways make for an enjoyable experience for non-players in attendance. Contact the Redding Soccer Park staff at 530-221-2344 or directly via their phone extensions or through email.
Scheels USA Youth Soccer Complex
Home of the Appleton Soccer Club, the Scheels USA Youth Soccer Complex offers 15 full-sized soccer pitches for your match days. Three areas of parking make for short walks to each of the fields, and there is a concession stand right in the middle of the park. The complex is no stranger to tournaments − the Appleton Soccer club hosts three competitive competitions and one recreational tournament each year. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to learn about renting out the fields for your event.
Kino Sports Complex
Home of PDL side FC Tucson, the Kino Sports Complex provides a beautiful backdrop for any outdoor sporting event. The venue is less than one mile from Tucson’s international airport, and it is surrounded by a wide variety of hotels, retail stores and restaurants. The 11,000-seat Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium has attracted multiple Major League Soccer clubs over the past couple of years for the annual Desert Diamond Cup, and lighted pitches with field seating are also available. More information on the complex can be found here.
Grande Sports World
Casa Grande, AZ
Affiliated with the Real Salt Lake soccer academy, the $20-million Grande Sports World campus gives you all you need without having to venture away from the facility. Eight soccer fields, six of them lighted, hotel accommodations, a player’s lounge that includes a variety of entertainment, free Wi-Fi and high speed Internet, and even an 18-hole golf course are found within the campus. Family First Sports Park
Whether you want indoor or outdoor soccer, Family First has you covered. Located just minutes off of the Peach Street Interstate 90 exit and a short drive from the Millcreek Mall and a plethora of restaurants and hotels, Family First has indoor playing areas and 17 full-sized soccer fields. A housing and conference center, one that includes 60 air- conditioned rooms and a dining hall that can seat 350 people, is located on-site. Call (814) 397-6999 for pricing and more information.
Overland Park Soccer Complex
Overland Park, KS
Perhaps the most well-known soccer complex in the United States, Overland Park has it all. Twelve lighted regulation size pitches, 1,100 square feet of meeting space and a field cooling system are just a few of the reasons why Overland Park was named the country’s top “soccer city” by Livability. Nearly three dozen hotels and just about every restaurant one could ask for are located within minutes of the facility. Call 913-685-1512, ext. 2001 for reservations.
Meadows Soccer Complex
The Meadows Soccer Complex is the one and only soccer complex located in the city, and it serves as the home of the year-round Warner Soccer player development company. Among the 10 different playing surfaces are full-sized pitches, five lighted fields and 6v6 fields. Utilized by multiple groups for tournaments and leagues, the complex also provides full restrooms, changing areas and even outdoor showers. Dial 850-891-3907 for rates and other information.
Mike Rose Soccer Complex
Ideal for a massive tournament, the Mike Rose Soccer Complex holds 16 FIFA dimension fields, all of which contain a draining system to prevent any amount of rain from ruining games. A 2,500+ seat stadium and lighted fields are also inside of the complex. A picnic area and a three-acre lake can serve as entertainment when away from the pitch. They will even help traveling teams acquire discounts at local hotels and restaurants. Call 901-751-4223 or email email@example.com to set your event up.
National Sports Center
We end with the biggest and arguably the best. Touted as the “World’s Largest Amateur Sports and Meeting Facility,” the National Sports Center has a whopping 52 regulation soccer fields. It is that reason that Guinness recognized the NSC as the largest soccer complex in the world. A residence hall, golf course and 8,500-seat stadium are just three parts of the massive center.
