Currently undergoing a transformative expansion, Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick, Washington, is becoming one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier indoor sports and event venues. Scheduled to open in Fall 2026, the expansion will more than double the facility’s capacity, creating nearly 100,000 square feet of new flexible event space designed to accommodate everything from volleyball and basketball tournaments to pickleball, wrestling, cheer, dance, esports and other indoor competitions.

The new exhibit hall features more than 60,000 square feet of contiguous, column-free space with 26-foot ceilings, multiple loading docks, flexible room configurations and the infrastructure needed to support large-scale sporting events. Additional meeting rooms provide ideal space for tournament headquarters, coaches’ meetings, officials’ lounges, athlete check-in, medical services, hospitality and vendor exhibits, all under one roof.

The venue is only part of the story

Located in the heart of Washington’s Tri-Cities, the destination offers affordable accommodation, convenient transportation and an abundance of amenities within minutes of the convention center. More than 2,000 hotel rooms are located nearby, including two connected Marriott properties, making it easy for teams and families to stay close to the action. The proximity of the Toyota Center, located next door on a shared campus, is also a benefit for sports planners, offering a 5,000-seat arena for expanded event opportunities.

The Tri-Cities also delivers exceptional value for event organizers. Competitive facility costs, strong community partnerships and support from Visit Tri-Cities help create a planning experience that is collaborative from bid to final whistle. Whether assistance is needed with marketing, volunteer coordination, local resources or destination information, organizers gain a team invested in their event’s success.

When competition ends for the day, athletes and families can explore more than 300 days of sunshine each year, over 200 wineries, scenic riverfront trails, parks, restaurants, shopping and a variety of family-friendly attractions. The region offers the amenities of a larger destination while maintaining the accessibility, affordability and hospitality that keep participants coming back.

As Three Rivers Convention Center enters this exciting new chapter, it is actively partnering with rights holders and tournament organizers to bring new sporting events to the Pacific Northwest. Whether you’re planning a regional championship, national tournament, youth sporting event or emerging competition, our team is ready to help create an exceptional experience from the first site visit through the final awards ceremony.
