Tempe is full of great outdoor destinations including Tempe Town Lake, which provides visitors a true oasis in the desert, with recreational activities including fishing, kayaking, rowing and more. Adjacent to downtown Tempe, the lake also includes Tempe Beach Park and its 25 acres of paths, trails and exciting festivals.
Visitors can tour the historic Arizona State University (ASU) campus which features pedestrian malls and eclectic architecture set amid subtropical landscaping. One popular stop is ASU Gammage, an architectural landmark built as a home for the arts, with live performances such a musicals and other events taking place year-round.
For those seeking visual art, the Tempe Center for the Arts features a 600-seat proscenium theater, a 200-seat studio theater and a 3,500-square-foot gallery. For a more interactive experience, the annual Tempe Festival of the Arts hosts amazing artists across the country, great food, local music and more. Built in 2005, Tempe Sports Complex is a 60-acre multi-purpose facility for sports tournaments and recreational activities. The complex includes seven multi-use fields, four lighted softball fields, 8 lighted pickleball courts – including two of the first ADA-accessible courts in the state. The skate park features two bowls and multiple street style ramps, open to skaters of all experience levels.
Sun Devil Fitness Complex

The Sun Devil Fitness Complex is a 234,000 sq. ft. multi-purpose space that can host both indoor and outdoor events. The complex has five large gymnasiums, 11 racquetball courts, an Olympic size swimming pool, and 6.5 acres of outdoor field space. The facility is designed to be a center of recreational and intramural sports, and overall physical wellness.
