Yakima Valley, WA Sports Facilities for Events

Welcome to Yakima Valley: A scenic sports space within Washington’s beautiful wine country

Introduction

YAKIMA VALLEY, WASHINGTON

Yakima Valley is nestled in the middle of beautiful hills and mountain ranges in southern Washington, making it an excellent place to pull competitors and spectators from Portland, Oregon and Seattle via I-82. The Valley has something for everyone within a stone throw distance from their great facilities. When your event is finished, head on over to the Cowiche Canyon Trail system, which boasts over 30 miles of hiking and biking trails and has some beautiful views that range in difficulty for both novice and experienced hikers alike.

For those that want to get away from the action, you will be right in the midst of Washington’s wine country. At Bonair Winery and Portteus Vineyards, along with many other excellent wineries in the area, you can partake in an excellent selection for tastings starting at only $10. There are many local breweries that serve great food and drinks, starting with Bale Breaker Brewing Co. which specializes in craft beers and has a rotating special in their food trucks each night.

For more child-friendly activities, one can visit Johnson’s Orchards just outside Yakima, which has been open in the same location for more than 120 years. Your party can learn about the deep history of the region at the Yakima Valley Museum located in Yakima. Also within the Yakima Area, enjoy the Yakima Area Arboretum which boasts a plethora of plants, trees and classes where you and a group can take classes like Mushroom Hunting and Plant Identification, hold meetings and even get married at one of the cultural staples of the region.

Get a Planner’s Perspective

Don’t just take our word for it, hear what these planners had to say.

“The coordination led by Rich Austin of hoteliers, restaurants, host facilities and the local leadership is phenomenal. From the moment a team arrives in the Yakima Valley until it departs, they are treated with great hospitality. There is no doubt the Yakima Valley Sports Commission delivers more than promised.”

— Mick Hoffman, Executive Director of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA)
