What is There to Do in Prince William?
Visitors can walk back in time and learn critical Civil War history at the 5,000-acre Manassas National Battlefield Park, which overlooks the site of the Battle Bull Run. Your group will learn about the Union and Confederate forces that clashed here on July 21, 1861 in what was the first major Civil War battle Enjoy miles of hiking trails, living history tours, and a visitor center that screens the 45-minute film Mansassas: End of Innocence. The park is free to visit.
The state-of-the-art National Museum of the Marine Corps honors, preserves and narrates America’s military history through the perspective of the U.S. Marines. Its magnificent architectural design features a dramatic 210-foot tiled steel mast and atrium inspired by the famous flag-raising at Iwo Jima. Exhibits include a “Leatherback Gallery” that chronicles Marine Corps history and theaters that depict pivotal battles in American warfare.
Washington, D.C.’s largest outlet mall, Potomac Mills houses 220 stores, restaurants and entertainment options that include an AMC Mills 18 multiplex. Groups can also enjoy the upscale restaurants and village theming of Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center and Northern Virginia’s only Cabela’s.
Prince William is also an outdoor adventurer’s dream. The area includes 38 square miles of preserved open space, 55 miles of trails and several public parks. Visitors can hike through the Piedmont Forest (the largest forest on the East Coast) at Prince William Forest Park, fish along the Potomac River at Leesylvania State Park and walk along the historic Neabasco Creek Boardwalk.
SplashDown Waterpark (Northern Virginia’s largest water park), provides a refreshing escape from the summer heat. The waterpark features an interactive children’s play area, activity pool, 70-foot waterslides and a lazy river. Delicious food options will keep your hungry team fueled for the next competition.
